ArtistHeat: For people hearing your name for the first time, who is DEMXN BABYY beyond the music?

DEMXN BABYY: Outside of music, I’m just a regular 16-year-old. I enjoy making people laugh, messing around with my friends, and spending my free time watching Red Bull Rampage.

ArtistHeat: You grew up in a few different places. How did those experiences influence you?

DEMXN BABYY: I was born in Alexandria, Alabama, lived in Missouri when I was really young, and spent most of my childhood in South Dakota. Hearing different kinds of music everywhere I lived opened my mind, and moving around taught me not to get too comfortable.

ArtistHeat: What’s your earliest musical memory?

DEMXN BABYY: When I was about six years old I remember hearing Chief Keef’s “Don’t Like” in the car. I fell in love with the melody right away, and I think that’s why melody is still the biggest thing for me today.

ArtistHeat: Was music always the dream?

DEMXN BABYY: Nah. Before music I wanted to make it to the NBA. Basketball was my first dream growing up.

ArtistHeat: When did you realize music could become something bigger?

DEMXN BABYY: I was in a group called Day Dreamers making aesthetic rap. I got bullied all through ninth grade because of it. Instead of stopping, I decided I wanted to get better and really take music seriously.

ArtistHeat: How would you describe your sound?

DEMXN BABYY: Sometimes it’s aggressive, other times it’s emotional. It really depends on how I’m feeling when I make the song.

ArtistHeat: What emotions inspire your music the most?

DEMXN BABYY: Usually obsession or heartbreak. Those are the feelings I connect with the most when making music.

ArtistHeat: What’s a lesson you’ve learned from the industry already?

DEMXN BABYY: When I saw some friends start blowing up and then switch on me, I realized not everyone is really your friend in music.

ArtistHeat: What has been the toughest part of your journey?

DEMXN BABYY: The bullying. It got so bad people made hate accounts just to clown my old music. That was definitely the hardest part.

ArtistHeat: Were there moments you almost walked away?

DEMXN BABYY: Yeah. But then I’ll hear artists like Aiden Hilton and remember why I want to keep making music.

ArtistHeat: Walk us through your creative process.

DEMXN BABYY: Everything starts with the melody. Once I hear the melody, the mood and everything else comes together after that.

ArtistHeat: If someone only had time to hear one of your songs, which would you recommend?

DEMXN BABYY: “Rest In East.”

ArtistHeat: What’s the biggest piece of advice you’ve learned so far?

DEMXN BABYY: Practice. Just keep practicing. And don’t think every opportunity is automatically a good opportunity.

ArtistHeat: Has your definition of success changed?

DEMXN BABYY: Definitely. I used to care about numbers a lot. Then I got a little clout and lost it just as fast. That’s when I realized there’s more to music than numbers.

ArtistHeat: What do you enjoy outside of making music?

DEMXN BABYY: Gaming. Skate 3 is one of my favorite games ever.

ArtistHeat: Who supported you when you were first starting out?

DEMXN BABYY: Honestly, nobody really believed in me besides myself. I had to figure everything out on my own. But in tenth grade my science teacher, Mr. Heitzman, was probably my biggest supporter. He was the first person who really saw my potential.

ArtistHeat: What do you do when inspiration isn’t there?

DEMXN BABYY: I get frustrated, but I come back later. Some of my best songs get made between one and five in the morning.

ArtistHeat: What sacrifices have you made for music?

DEMXN BABYY: Time. I didn’t put much effort into school because music was all I wanted to do. I was a D student through ninth and tenth grade.

ArtistHeat: Do you think success comes from talent, hard work, or connections?

DEMXN BABYY: It depends. Sometimes one connection changes everything. Sometimes talent speaks for itself. Everything happens when it’s supposed to.

ArtistHeat: If you could talk to your younger self, what would you say?

DEMXN BABYY: Stop worrying about what people think and start making music earlier.

ArtistHeat: What do you hope listeners take away from your music?

DEMXN BABYY: I want people to either feel the pain in my lyrics or get hyped if it’s one of those songs.

ArtistHeat: Where do you hope to be in five years?

DEMXN BABYY: I don’t just want to be another rapper or singer. I want people to remember me as an emo rap legend.

ArtistHeat: Finally, what’s your message to people chasing their own dreams?

DEMXN BABYY: Keep going. Speak your dreams into reality. And if you’re going through something, remember there’s always somebody out there who loves you.

Although he’s still early in his career, DEMXN BABYY has already faced experiences that have challenged his confidence and strengthened his resolve. Rather than allowing criticism to define him, he’s continued developing his sound and focusing on the emotional connection he wants listeners to experience.
