4stro Embraces Being Different With “we!rdo”
There is something refreshing about an underground song that does not feel like it is desperately trying to sound underground. 4stro’s “we!rdo” is catchy, melodic, strange in the right ways, and built around an identity that feels completely comfortable being hard to define. Instead of leaning into the loud, blown-out production and aggressive flows that dominate a lot of the current underground, 4stro gives the track a different bounce and lets the personality carry it.
That personality is a huge part of what makes “we!rdo” work. The title is not being used like an insult. It is more like a statement of intent. The song embraces being different, being difficult to categorize, and making music based on instinct instead of expectations. Even the chaotic cover art fits into the world 4stro is building around his upcoming EP “aww, how cute!”, with visuals that feel playful, eerie, colorful, and completely outside the box.
Interview
“we!rdo” feels like a title you’re almost wearing as a badge. Is that word describing how you see yourself, how other people see you, or both?
i think being a "weirdo" is something ppl are afraid of, but i almost embrace it. i embrace the weird, i embrace the uniqueness of not being able to be defined by the bound or expectations other people set forward. i like being a weirdo bc it means im not like anybody else
The cover art is chaotic as hell in a good way. How much does the visual side of your music matter to you? Are you trying to build a whole world around the sound?
absolutely n i gotta give a huge shoutout to oona 444 that, her and i have been really trying to build the imagery around my upcoming ep "aww, how cute!" and my next album (which is very different but thats a secret 444 now :3)
i think ive been in a really spooky place musically and just wanted to do some fun, outta the box kinda stuff before i dive back into something more serious
This song has that super underground feeling where it doesn’t sound like it was made to fit into a playlist or algorithm. When you make music, are you thinking about what people will like at all, or are you mostly making whatever sounds interesting to you?
i do a little bit of both but mostly i just make songs that i wanna hear or try to relate to an emotion that everyone has and just doesnt talk about
hence the whole "weirdo" vibe, its funny bc in the song theres a snippet of my friend talking about my music and he says that im my own inspiration which i think rly describes my sound well, its j unique and its made to help anyone else listening embrace that unique energy in themselves
What’s something about “we!rdo” that most listeners probably won’t catch on the first listen? Could be a lyric, adlib, production detail, meaning, anything.
i think the flow more than anything, alot of the ug now is focused on loud n over the top beats n flows, i j wanted to make sumn catchy n melodic to have a different bounce to it
“we!rdo” feels like 4stro intentionally stepping away from whatever formula the underground is currently chasing. The melodic flow, strange imagery, and self-aware identity all make the song feel personal without becoming overly serious. More importantly, it feels like part of something bigger.
With “aww, how cute!” on the way and an entirely different album apparently already sitting somewhere behind the scenes, 4stro seems focused on building a world where every release can take on its own personality. “we!rdo” is a fitting introduction to that mindset. It is catchy, slightly chaotic, and completely comfortable not fitting in.
