heal’s “pray” doesn’t waste any time easing the listener in. The track jumps straight into its energy, pulling from that hyperpop and underground world where songs can feel unpredictable, emotional, and almost overloaded in the best way. But underneath the sound, there’s actually a lot more thought behind the structure than you might catch on first listen.
Originally, heal wasn’t even planning to start the song the way it does now. After deciding he didn’t like his original entrance, he moved the chorus to the beginning, creating a much stronger hook before letting the rest of the song build. That kind of decision says a lot about how he approaches music. He might start by chasing a sound, but eventually the emotion, lyrics, and meaning all catch up.

I originally was going to upload the song by my self but didn’t really like the way i came in the song so i later decided to put the chorus into the start to upload to my hosting page partyrockradio. Almost to like hook the listener to keep listening for the flow buildup.
2. The song feels super digital and chaotic, but there’s still a lot of emotion under it. When you’re making music like this, are you chasing a feeling first or a sound first?
I’m not gonna lie when i start making music like this i just chase a sound then later go back and listen to the song without the beat to figure out what type of feeling i want the chorus to have at the end of the buildup and incorporate that feeling into the libs.
3. Why call the song “pray”? The title feels way more serious than the energy of the track at first glance. What does that word actually mean inside the song?
I’m a christian and praying is a big part of my lifestyle and religion. In the song i really heavily talk about the success of me and peers and life it also brought with it. Starting music recently and building a following this quick can give someone almost an ego or an idolization over money or streams so I ended up adding a reminder to always give thanks to the one above because it wouldn’t be possible without him.
4. The track is only around two minutes, but it still feels packed with energy. How do you know when a song like this is finished instead of adding another verse, switch, or section?
Honestly most of my songs consist of the same structure first verse, chorus, second verse, chorus and an outro but sometimes if i think a beat is too repetitive i’ll just make a transition and throw a switch or edit the beat my self to my liking.
5. Underground hyperpop changes so fast that a sound can feel brand new one month and old the next. When you’re making something like “pray,” are you thinking about where the underground is heading, or are you purposely trying to ignore all of that and make your own lane?
I don’t really care for the title “underground” or what the current sound is because nothing is forever at the end of the day. Trying to replicate a current sound just removes the autheticity of your craft. Music is art and it tells a story, so I just try to make music that is either relatable or nice to listen to whether it’s the beat, the flow or the lyrics which ever i’m really feeling when i press record.
