Train To Roots and Shakalab join forces to create a powerful new track: Gherreros (warriors). Two islands, Sardinia and Sicily, unite under the same reggae rhythm, to celebrate the fighting and proud spirit that unites their roots. The song is sung by four singers of the bands in Sardinian, Sicilian, English and Italian. Gherreros anticipates a tour that will take the two famous bands on stages in Italy, Spain, Holland and England, ready to spread their message of unity and struggle through the universal language of reggae music. In the UK we will see them live in London and Manchester on March 19 and 20. Shakalab described this track as follows: “With a sound mixing tradition and modernity, Gherreros is a tribute to the identity, resistance and courage of the island people, transforming music into a manifesto of pride and strength”. Train To Roots explained: “These two islands have always been lands of conquest throughout history. Anyone who is born or becomes an islander is a warrior who will have to fight to survive. They have stolen everything from us and continue to do so, everything is still in the hands of the masters of the moment and we continue to argue among ourselves instead of being united and this is one of the greatest defeats”. And they continue: “We liked the idea of making a song with Shakalab, who we have known for many years. Joining the forces and voices of two islands with their languages. The suffering and exploitation that our territories experience are similar even if we are far away”. Gherreros was recorded, mixed and mastered at Roble Recording Studio in Alghero and published by Roble Records, and is available on digital platforms. |
