An Dannsa Dub: ‘Through The Storm’

After the breakthrough success of their debut album Air an Turas, An Dannsa Dub  returns with Through The Storm — a bold, genre-bending journey that cements their status as one of the most innovative voices of the scene. Seamlessly blending the spirit of Scottish traditional melodies with the deep  pulse of dub reggae, the album is a powerful reflection of resilience, connection,  and creative freedom.

Written over 18 months between relentless touring and countless late-night  sessions at Persevere Studios in Glasgow, Through The Storm marks a new  chapter for founding members Euan and Tom. Inspired by the energy of live  audiences across Europe and the UK — from Glastonbury to Knockengorroch  — the duo leaned into experimentation, crafting an album that pushes the  boundaries of their unique sound.

The project took on new life through serendipitous collaborations. A chance  encounter at DubCamp Festival with Italian dubmaster Paolo Baldini evolved  into a year-long creative exchange, enriching the record with Paolo’s  unmistakable studio finesse. Later, at Tropical Pressure Festival, the band met  producer and electronic dub legend Gaudi, whose enthusiasm for the project  led him to co-produce the album — even traveling to the stormy far reaches of  the Isle of Lewis to record in person.

The recording took place in the windswept Black Bay Studios on Great Bernera,  nestled near the ancient Calanais Standing Stones. The remote setting,  battered by winter storms, infused the sessions with elemental energy. With the  guidance of engineers Cal Roden and Pete Fletcher, An Dannsa Dub  channelled this natural drama into sound — textured, immersive, and  emotionally rich.

The album unfolds like a storm itself — building tension, crashing chaos, and  eventual calm. From the opening track The Storm Gathers to the reflective eye  of I, Of The Storm and the final healing moments of Till Slàn (“Return Safely”),  the journey is both sonic and symbolic. It’s a metaphor for personal upheaval,  global turbulence, and the collective strength found in music and community.

The album was anticipated on April 4th by the release of the lead single Standing Strong, a heavy-hitting roots  anthem featuring the magnetic voice of Brazilian artist Junior Dread. With deep  bass, militant grooves, and a lyrical message of defiance and hope, it’s An  Dannsa Dub’s most focused venture into classic roots reggae — with their  signature Scottish twist.

Through The Storm is available on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms.
