KIKIO Brings Distressed Layers and Heavy Streetwear Energy to Its Anniversary Collection
KIKIO is pushing deeper into its dark, distressed aesthetic with a new anniversary collection built around oversized silhouettes, heavy layering and pieces that look like they have already lived a few lives.
The collection immediately stands out through its treatment of denim. One of the most eye-catching pieces is a pair of oversized black cargo-style jeans covered in distressing, hanging fabric, hardware and cross graphics. The exaggerated shape gives the pants a huge presence on their own, without needing much else to complete the fit.
That same approach carries into the rest of the collection. Black leather, washed fabrics, exposed red layers and intentionally destroyed details show up throughout the new pieces. One look pairs a graphic leather jacket with oversized leather shorts and tall boots, while another combines a distressed oversized tee with heavily shredded black and red shorts.
KIKIO also shows how the pieces can be styled beyond a single outfit. The same distressed black and red designs appear across different looks, including a full layered streetwear fit with wide-leg pants, giving the collection more versatility than simply presenting each item once.
There is a clear balance between punk, grunge and modern underground streetwear throughout the drop. Nothing here is particularly subtle. The proportions are big, the distressing is aggressive and even the smaller details like straps, hardware, exposed fabric and graphics are meant to be noticed.
